DYNAMIC
I purchased this DVD, because my third-grade daughter was doing a biography report on Elizabeth Cady Stanton. We had read several articles on her, but she was still elusive. She didn't really come to life for my daughter until we viewed the DVD. It was an amazing and powerful learning experience for both of us. As always, Ken Burns does a brilliant job. I particularly appreciate the pairing of Stanton and Anthony in the DVD, and I now understand that Stanton might never have made her contribution to women's rights without the crucial partnership with Susan B. Anthony.

History we need to know
Susan B. Anthony is the best known suffragette but Elizabeth Cady Stanton was really unknown to me. This documentary clearly shows how both these women worked together and made the vote for women campaign take off. To see the vintage stills and video of where they came from really helps promote an understanding of what and why they worked so hard. This historical information should be taught in school as it's very inspiring for girls.

Excellent Way to L:earn About Suffragism
"Not For Ourselves Alone" is informative and inspiring. Watching it in the context of the 2008 presidential election is fascinating, since one can draw many parallels between the struggles of Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton and the campaign of Hillary Clinton. The film also stands as a beautiful portrait of friendship and devotion to a cause. The "talking heads" make outstanding points, and the storyline of the film builds to the inevitable conclusion: women get the right to vote. Knowing about all the hardships and hard work that led to that moment is truly enriching, and that knowledge is what this film provides.

Eye opening story
I very eye opening story about a part of history we don't get taught in school. A very good documentary on two of America's most endearing women.
