Gabon is an unlikely Eden where relentless predators stalk prey in lush forests and primates, who have not yet learned to fear man, live right alongside forest elephants. Against all odds, one visionary African leader and a group of dedicated scientists defied the conventional wisdom that insists oil and logging are the only way to bring prosperity to an impoverished land. Out of the wild they created 13 new national parks - and are now developing an eco-tourism industry to sustain them. Gabon: The Last Eden tells this amazing story with stunning footage - silverback gorillas defending territory, mandrill baboons faces splashed with day-glow color, and hippos wallowing in the ocean - exploring one of the planet's last true wildernesses and what is being done to save it.

An excellent DVD
Texts and images are very good. I just came back from a trip to Gabon where I experienced many situations reported in the DVD.

Great dvd
I went to Gabon this summer on vacation and watched this dvd before and after. And loved it even more after my visit to Gabon and seeing all those places like Lope and Loango firsthand.

Great photography, good narrative. It could have been more detailed and given more information on the wildlife, the conservation and research projects and the opportunities for eco-tourism

National Geographic: Gabon - the Last Eden
The Eden series is probably the best nature program next to Planet Earth - and they were done earlier. This is just another edition to a wonderful series about a place on our planet - that is wonderous to behold.

Absolutely beautiful! National Geographic does it again! I don't know if I've ever watched anything by National Geographic that I didn't absolutely love! These are a group of people who do so much good for the world by just sharing their love through the camera lens and doing a most excellent job of it! Great job people!!!!
